About Metalworks Otago

Dirk Tuinman And Steve Hurring started Metalworks Otago Ltd in October 2015 operating from Steve’s garage. Now due to adding staff and machinery the business is into the 4th workshop since then. The new premises at 2 Cresswell Street hosts an 8-ton overhead gantry crane that provides the opportunity to undertake a wider range of the lager projects the would have previously been turned away.

Metalworks Otago undertakes all types of metal fabricating ranging from Earthquake strengthening structural steel, general structural steel focusing on steel for domestic housing construction, to decorative steel and stainless steel balustrading and hand rails to non-ferrous metal work with copper and brass.
We pride ourselves with having a con-do attitude and will assess undertaking any project requiring metal fabrication.

  • Mar 2017– June 2017 - Mosgiel New World upgrade
  • Oct 2016 – ongoing Cadbury Dairy Building earthquake strengthening and upgrade
  • Nov 2016 - Feb 2017 Aquinas College – Earthquake upgrade carried out during the summer holiday break
  • Nov 2016- Feb 2017 Portobello Marine Centre Upgrade
  • Nov 2015 – Feb 2016 – Cargills refurbishment
